Trim the wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to about 5mm (¼ inch). A neatly trimmed wick encourages a steadier flame and helps reduce smoke, soot, and excess heat.

Vessel candle care
A few thoughtful habits can help your vessel candle burn more evenly, stay cleaner, and fill your space beautifully from the first light to the last.
Before each burn, trim the wick to about 5mm (¼ inch). A neatly trimmed wick encourages a steadier flame and helps reduce smoke, soot, and excess heat.
During the first burn, allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the vessel when possible. This helps establish an even burn and reduces tunneling, but never exceed the candle's recommended burn time.
Keep the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts and anything flammable. Burn it within sight for no more than four hours at a time, and allow the wax to cool completely before moving or relighting it.
Discontinue use when about ½ inch of wax remains or if the flame becomes unusually high, smoky, or repeatedly flickers. Once the candle is completely cool, the empty vessel may be cleaned and repurposed as a small organizer or decorative accent.
Shaped candle care
Our shaped candles are created first as sculptural objects. If you choose to light yours, its form will influence how the wax melts, making every burn a little different and beautifully individual.
Always place your candle upright on a stable, heat-resistant, nonflammable tray or dish large enough to catch melted wax. Keep it away from drafts, children, pets, and anything that could catch fire.
Before each burn, trim the wick to about 5mm (¼ inch). A shorter wick helps maintain a steadier flame and can reduce smoking, flaring, and uneven wax flow.
Unlike vessel candles, shaped candles have no container to hold the melt pool. Depending on the design, wax may drip, pool, or flow away from the wick, and some wax may remain unconsumed. This is a natural characteristic of sculptural candles, not a defect.
Always burn your shaped candle within sight and never move it while the wax is liquid. Extinguish it if the flame becomes unusually high, begins smoking, or repeatedly flickers, and always put it out before the flame gets close to the tray or holder. Allow the candle and collected wax to cool completely before handling.
Our process
Every ABA Home candle is made with intention. From preparing each piece to the final finishing touches, our process is centered on creating candles that feel as beautiful in your home as they do when lit.
Each candle begins with careful preparation. We ready the vessel, wick, wax, and fragrance so every element comes together thoughtfully before the first pour.
Our candles are poured with attention to consistency and detail, creating an even foundation for a beautiful burn and a fragrance experience designed to complement your space.
After pouring, each candle is given the time it needs to cool, settle, and develop before it is finished. This quiet stage is an important part of preparing the candle for its first burn.
Before leaving ABA Home, each candle receives its finishing touches and a final visual inspection. It is then carefully prepared for its journey from our home in Texas to yours.
